Job Shadowing
Students who are interested in an opportunity to visit a business to learn what employees experience day to day in their careers should consider a day of job shadowing.  You will observe activities, ask questions, and gain a better understanding of what employees and employers do on a daily basis.  See Mrs. Goode in lab 106 or Mrs. Linder in Guidance for a Job Shadowing application.  The last day to get a job shadowing application is February 21st, and the deadline to return the job shadowing contract is February 24th.  DEADLINE:  ALL JOB SHADOWING EXPERIENCES SHOULD BE COMPLETED BY FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 28.

USC Upstate Junior Scholars
Attention any JUNIOR interested in attending USC Upstate in Spartanburg, SC should see Mr. Barnard or Mrs. Clary in Guidance to determine if you are eligible for the USC Upstate Junior Scholar Award.  This award recognizes outstanding high school juniors for academic achievement and community service.  Nominees should have scored at least 1000 on the PSAT, 1000 (critical reading and math) on the SAT, or 24 on the ACT, and have an overall high school GPA of 3.0 or higher.  Participation in extracurricular activities at school or in the community is encouraged.  DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 28, 2020
 
Erskine Fellows Program
Attention ALL Juniors! Erskine College would like to announce their Erskine Fellows program to juniors who demonstrate qualities of leadership by participation in extra-curricular and community activities.  Any junior must have a minimum of 1200 (Critical Reading and Math) on the SAT, 25 composite on the ACT, or 120 (Critical Reading and Math) on PSAT. Juniors must have a 3.5 GPA.  Erskine Fellows will be invited (pending their acceptance) to compete for the Presidential Scholarship, their largest and most prestigious scholarship. SEE MR. BARNARD OR MRS. CLARY IN GUIDANCE IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BEING NOMINATED.  DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 28, 2020 
 
USC Beaufort Junior Preview Day
Juniors that are interested in USC Beaufort will have the opportunity to learn more about their campus, admissions, financial aid and scholarships, and areas of study at their Junior Preview Day on Saturday, February 29th.  If you are interested in attending register at https://www.uscb.edu.
 
Spartanburg Community College
SENIORS,  If you are interested in meeting with Ms. Raines from SCC, come see Mrs. Gilmer in Guidance to sign up.  She will be back for a visit on the morning of Wednesday, March 4th
 
Spartanburg Methodist College Lunch Visit
A representative from Spartanburg Methodist College will be in the cafeteria during Lunch/Centurion Connect on Thursday, March 5th.  If you are interested stop by their table.
 
FREE College Application Day
USC Upstate, Spartanburg Community College, and Spartanburg Methodist College will be at Broome on Thursday, March 12th, to offer seniors the opportunity to apply FREE that day.  IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN APPLYING TO ANY OF THESE COLLEGES COME TO GUIDANCE TO SIGN UP. 
 
SMC Spring Open House
SMC will have their Spring Open House on Saturday, March 21st.  This will give students the opportunity to tour the campus, talk with students, and meet faculty and staff.  Register at https://www.smcsc.edu/admissions/plan-a-visit/open-house/.
 
Benedict College Spring Open House

Furman Scholars
Any JUNIOR interested in an education in liberal arts and sciences at Furman University in Greenville, SC should see Mr. Barnard or Mrs. Clary in Guidance to determine if you are eligible for the Furman Scholar Award.  You must have a 3.5 GPA or higher (on a 4.0 scale), as well as an SAT score of 1360, PSAT score of 1360 or an ACT score of 29.  Students must also have a significant involvement in extracurricular activities, community service, and demonstrate leadership potential.  Students selected for this award will be eligible for at least $20,000 per year, $80,000 over four years in scholarships upon acceptance to Furman University.  DEADLINE: MARCH 25, 2020

If your vision is to develop your talents as an artist or performer, Converse College School of the Arts (SOA) may be the answer to your quest.  High school seniors are invited to compete for talent-based scholarships in Art, Dance, Music, Musical Theatre and Theatre.
