Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

When does registration start?
Signing up for online appointments begins February 8, 2021.
4K Registration Process

Is the 4K program full day or half day?
Our 4K classes are full day.  The school hours are 7:45-2:30.

I’ve completed the registration steps.  What’s next?
Your application will be reviewed.  If you're signing up a child for 4K, someone from the school will call you to schedule a screening appointment.  If your child is accepted, you will receive an acceptance letter.  Take your acceptance letter and the additional documents described in the letter to your child’s school to complete the registration.

What will I need to bring to the screening appointment?
Here are the documents you will need to bring to the screening appointment:
    Birth certificate
    Immunization record
3 proofs of residence with a District 3 address (water bill, lease, car tax, etc.)
    Driver’s License
Your child’s Medicaid card OR proof of income for the household (pay stub, W-2, income tax return)
    4K onlyYour child

Who gets in the 4K program?
State-funded CERDEP programs require that children who are determined in need of additional services by state guidelines and the DIAL 4 screening are placed first.  Students who do not meet these guidelines are accepted as space is available.

Who gets in the 5k program?
Everyone! 5K is mandatory for students and we are not limited to the amount of students we're allowed to accept.

Why do you need my child’s Medicaid card or proof of income?
We are required to collect income information from parent/guardians by state guidelines.

When will I know if my child is accepted into 4K?
Once all paperwork is completed, documents are verified and screening assessments are administered, we will notify you of your child’s acceptance or placement on a waitlist.  Please complete the registration link as early as possible so you may be given an appointment for the screening.

Why do I need to bring my child in for screening?
Screening helps determine who will be accepted into the 4K program. It also gives your child’s teacher information about any areas where your child may need additional help.

When do screenings take place?
Your child’s school will call you to make an appointment.  There will be a range of times from which to choose.

What happens if my child is not accepted?
Children who are not initially accepted will be placed on a waitlist.  Students on the waitlist will be contacted as soon as possible to be placed.
