There are several organizations, colleges, associations, and nonprofits that recognize the desire to attend college but the inability to be able to afford it. These organizations offer scholarships and grants geared specifically to black students to help close this educational gap. Wofford Scholars Program
The Wofford Scholars Program is Wofford’s largest merit-based scholarship. Scholarships range from $60,000 - $250,000 over a four-year period. To qualify you must be ranked in the top 10% of your class and have a combined SAT score of 1300 (Critical Reading and Math) or a 28 on the ACT. The WTS Transportation YOU High School Scholarship
The local chapter of The Transportation YOU offers two $1,500 scholarships to graduating SENIORS currently studying math, science, and technology and considering a college degree in a transportation-related field. The local winners will advance to the WTS Foundation Scholarship Selection committee for consideration for a $2,500 scholarship. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher. NAFEPA (National Association of Federal Education Program Administrators) Scholarship Program
The purpose of the NAFEPA (National Association of Federal Education Program Administrators) Scholarship Program is to financially support post-secondary education for qualifying seniors attending their first year of college. There are four scholarships, each worth $2,500 and they are non-renewable. Two scholarships are for students pursuing degrees in education and the other two are for applicants pursuing degrees in education or any other field. South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation Scholarship
The South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation offers a scholarship for SC high school seniors or an undergraduate in a SC college or university. You must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale and have a competitive or recreational interest in golf. The American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship
The American Legion Department of SC is sponsoring the Annual High School Oratorical Scholarship Program,
“A Constitutional Speech Contest,” for students presently enrolled in grades
nine through twelve. The purpose of the American Legion’s Oratorical
Constitutional Speech Contest is to develop a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution of the United States. Students can earn scholarships ranging from $750 to $25,000. If you are interested see Mr. Bramhall in the Guidance Department.

Coolidge Scholars Program for JUNIORS
The Coolidge Scholarship is a full-ride scholarship that covers a student’s tuition, room, board, and expenses for four years of undergraduate study. Any JUNIOR

The James F. The Watson-Brown Foundation operates one of the largest college scholarship programs in the state and plans to award 250+ new scholarships for the 2022-2023 school year. Students residing in 23 counties across Georgia and South Carolina are eligible to apply. Scholarships are awarded based on need, as well as merit, to students who attend four-year, accredited, non-profit institutions. Spartanburg Methodist College FAFSA Night
Spartanburg Methodist college is hosting a free FAFSA night on Thursday, February 10, 2022, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
for future students and their families. Admissions and Financial Aid counselors will aid in completing and sending your FAFSA to up to ten colleges. Horatio Alger Scholarship
As one of the nation's largest need-based college scholarship programs in the country, the Horatio Alger Scholarship Programs specifically assist high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives. Applicants must demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required), maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0, and be a United States citizen.
