The BMW Scholars Program is an apprenticeship program that partners with Spartanburg Community College, Greenville Technical College, Tri-County Technical College, and Piedmont Technical College.  This program allows students in manufacturing-related degrees to attend class full-time while working part-time at BMW Manufacturing Co., LLC.  To apply visit the career office at one of the technical colleges.  Come to Guidance for details.

Clemson’s SPECTRA (Student Pathways in Engineering and Computing for Transfers Program) Scholarship
On Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., the Computer and Engineering Technologies School at Spartanburg Community College will host a SPECTRA Transfer Program Information Session on its central campus. Horatio Alger Scholarship
The Horatio Alger Association provides financial assistance to graduating seniors with a GPA of 2.0 or higher, have a significant financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income), and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity.  The scholarships range in award value from $10,000 to $25,000.  Students must submit an online application at
Winthrop Fine Arts Scholarship
Winthrop Department of Fine Arts is pleased to announce the Fall 2019 Fine Arts Scholarship Competition. This scholarship is open to all degree seeking, undergraduate students attending Winthrop University for the first time (freshman and transfer students) during the 2020-2021 academic year. Students must declare a major within the Department of Fine Arts.  Students selected for an award have the opportunity to renew their scholarship for up to three years after the initial award year, providing they remain in good academic standing as a full-time student in the Department of Fine Arts. To apply for the Kittie Moss Fairey Educational Fund Scholarship you must be a high school senior planning to attend full-time at an accredited four-year college or university in SC, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and demonstrate a financial need.  This scholarship is for one year only.  Apply online at
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Week Celebration Scholarship

Clemson University’s Lyceum Scholars
The Lyceum Scholars Program is a four-year academic program open to incoming freshman.  As a Lyceum Scholar, you will study the moral, political, and economic foundations of a free society.  Students accepted into this program will receive a $10,000 scholarship, which is distributed over their four years at Clemson University.  Visit for details and to apply.

Urban League of the Upstate Denny’s Hungry for Education
The Urban League of the Upstate Denny’s Hungry for Education scholarship is open to all 9th – 12th grade students in upstate South Carolina. Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded.  Grades and academic performance will serve as indicators of potential, however, an emphasis may be placed on the individual’s essay submission.  Apply at
Winthrop’s Accounting, Mentorship, and Professional Development (AMPD) Program
Winthrop’s Accounting, Mentorship, and Professional Development (AMPD) Program is a program that is devoted to increasing the number of underrepresented minorities in the accounting field.  This program provides scholarships, internships, professional development and special attention to students who are either interested in accounting or willing to give it a chance. Winthrop accepts 20 students each year in the program and 5 students are offered $2,000 scholarships and the others are given at least $500.
Burger King® Scholars Program
High school seniors that plan to attend a two or four-year accredited university can apply for the Burger King® Scholars Program. The Foundation will award up to $50,000 in scholarships to three students.  Apply at

South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation Scholarship
The South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation offers a scholarship for SC high school seniors or an undergraduate in a SC college or university.  You must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale and have a competitive or recreational interest in golf.  Recipients must attend an accredited public or private four-year college or university located in SC in the fall of 2020. The American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship
The American Legion Department of SC is sponsoring the Annual High School Oratorical Scholarship Program, “A Constitutional Speech Contest,” for students presently enrolled in grades nine through twelve.  The purpose of The American Legion’s Oratorical Constitutional Speech Contest is to develop a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution of the United States.  State finalists have the chance to earn a $2,000 scholarship, with the winner going to the National contest and a chance to win an $18,000 scholarship. Porch Skilled Trade & Technology Scholarship
Porch offers a $3,000 scholarship twice a year to eligible seniors in skilled trades and technology to help keep up with demand.  Entries are now being accepted for the October 2019 scholarship.  You must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.4 or greater (on a 4.0 scale) and planning to enroll in undergraduate study at an accredited public or private two or four-year college or university in the United States.  Visit to learn more and apply.   DEADLINE:  JANUARY 15, 2020 11:59 P.M. Coolidge Scholarship
The Coolidge Scholarship covers a student’s tuition, room, board, and expenses for four years of undergraduate study.  Any JUNIOR that plans to enroll in college in the fall of 2021 and is an American Citizen or legal permanent resident is eligible to apply.  The top 100 applicants will be invited to participate in the Coolidge Senators Program, which includes an all-expenses-paid Summit Weekend in Washington, D.C. and a one-time $1,000 scholarship.  Applicants that make it to the finalist level, but do not win the full scholarship, receive a one-time finalist scholarship of $5,000.  For details and to apply visit

529 College Savings Scholarship

THEDREAM.US Opportunity Scholarship
THEDREAM.US Opportunity Scholarship is open to DREAMers who came to the U.S. before November 1, 2014 and will graduate from high school in 2020. The scholarship covers tuition and fees up to a maximum of $80,000 for a bachelor’s degree at one of their four Partner Colleges. You may find details and apply at DEADLINE:  JANUARY 30, 2020 
Hampton Wildlife Fund Scholarships
The Hampton Wildlife Fund offers four scholarships to SC graduating seniors pursuing their education in:  the natural resources discipline, law enforcement/criminal justice/forensic science, or in print or photo journalism, advertising, public relations or mass communications.  Scholarship details and a fillable PDF application is available at

SME Education Foundation Scholarships
The SME Education Foundation annually awards scholarships to graduating seniors that will be pursuing a two-year, four-year, or advanced degree in manufacturing or engineering.  Scholarships range from $1,000 to 40,000.  You must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale or 70 on a 100 point (%) scale. Most scholarships have a minimum GPA of 3.0/80.

James F. Byrnes Scholarship Program
The James F. Byrnes Scholarship Program is available to seniors who have lost one or both parents and who plan to seek a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university beginning in the fall of 2020.  The annual award is $4,500, renewable for a total of four years; total award $18,000 for the academic year.  The application packet is available as a fillable Adobe Acrobat form and can be submitted after January 2nd.  Visit  DEADLINE:  FEBRUARY 1, 2020 
2020 Journalism Contest 
The SC Governor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities is sponsoring the 2020 Journalism Contest.  The contest winner will receive a four-year scholarship to the SC state-supported institution of his or her choice. The scholarship pays for undergraduate tuition and fees.  You must be a SC resident, aged 16 to 19 years old and a SENIOR in high school.  You do not have to have a disability to apply.  Come to Guidance for details or visit  DEADLINE:  FEBRUARY 1, 2020
Carolina Panthers Sam Mills Memorial Scholarship
The Carolina Panthers Sam Mills Memorial Scholarship Fund is for graduating senior athletes planning to attend an accredited four-year college or university.  A minimum of one scholarship of up to $5,100 will be awarded to a male letter winner in football and one for a female letter winner in any state sanctioned high school sport.  Students must have an unweighted cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.  If you are interested in being considered for nomination, come see Mrs. Gilmer in Guidance.  
South Carolina Federal Credit Union Scholarship
The South Carolina Federal Credit Union Scholarship will award 12 scholarships, with denominations between $2,500 - $10,000.  You must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and planning to attend a four-year college/university or technical college in SC for the fall 2020 semester.  To apply visit DEADLINE:  FEBRUARY 14, 2020 
The Silver Pen Writing Competition
The Silver Pen Writing Competition is hosted through Summit Hills retirement community and is open to graduating seniors that live or attend a school within 25 miles of Summit Hills.  There are three scholarship awards: $2,500, $750, and $500. Apply online at
Watson-Brown Foundation
The Watson-Brown Foundation operates one of the largest college scholarship programs in the state and plans to award 250 new scholarships for the 2020-2021 school year.  Students from 18 counties in Georgia and South Carolina are eligible to apply.  Scholarships are awarded on the basis of need, as well as merit, to students who attend four-year, accredited, non-profit institutions.  The scholarships are $5,000 per year and are renewable for up to four years of undergraduate education. Alpha Delta Kappa
The members of the Alpha Beta Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa offer a scholarship to female seniors who will be pursuing a career in the field of education.  The scholarship amount will be at least $750 and is renewable each year if the requirements are met.  Come to Guidance for details. DEADLINE:  FEBRUARY 15, 2020 
South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Foundation (SCLEOA)
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Foundation (SCLEOA) will award three awards totaling $7,000, to graduating high school seniors who will be continuing their education in SC.  One of the $2,000 awards will be presented to the child of an SCLEOA member.  Visit for an application and guidelines or come to Guidance.
USC Upstate Junior Scholars 
Attention any JUNIOR interested in attending USC Upstate in Spartanburg, SC should see Mr. Barnard or Mrs. Clary in Guidance to determine if you are eligible for the USC Upstate Junior Scholar Award.  This award recognizes outstanding high school juniors for academic achievement and community service.  Nominees should have scored at least 1000 on the PSAT, 1000 (critical reading and math) on the SAT, or 24 on the ACT, and have an overall high school GPA of 3.0 or higher.  Participation in extracurricular activities at school or in the community is encouraged.  DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 28, 2020
Erskine Fellows Program
Attention ALL Juniors! Erskine College would like to announce their Erskine Fellows program to juniors who demonstrate qualities of leadership by participation in extra-curricular and community activities.  Any junior must have a minimum of 1200 (Critical Reading and Math) on the SAT, 25 composite on the ACT, or 120 (Critical Reading and Math) on PSAT. Juniors must have a 3.5 GPA.  Erskine Fellows will be invited (pending their acceptance) to compete for the Presidential Scholarship, their largest and most prestigious scholarship. SEE MR. BMW Academic Outreach Camp
USC Upstate, BMW Manufacturing, Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, and American Credit Acceptance are teaming up for an Academic Outreach Camp to introduce students to exciting and real world applications of mathematics, statistics, and physics.  This FREE two-week camp for RISING SENIORS is in June 2020.  PARTICIPANTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND BOTH WEEKS.  Apply online at DEADLINE:  MARCH 1, 2020
The Laura M. Fleming Scholarship Fund
The Laura M. Fleming Scholarship Fund was established by Founders Federal Credit Union to provide undergraduate scholarships to the children of Founders Federal Credit Union members to attend an accredited college, vocational or technical school of their choice.  Applicants must be high school seniors and have a minimum of a 3.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale. Bobby Chapman Junior Golf Foundation Scholarship
The Bobby Chapman Scholarship is to be awarded to a student who is a graduate (or soon will be) of a secondary school in the Southeastern United States and or participate in a prior Bobby Chapman Invitational. The Scholarship Committee will only accept two applications per high school. The scholarship program will select one recipient, renewing annually, for four years in the amount of $1500 per year.  The student recipient may or may not be a golfer.  Come to Guidance for details and an application. Spartanburg County Anonymous Scholarship
The Spartanburg County Anonymous Scholarship is a 4-year renewable scholarship that will be awarded to a graduating senior that will be attending an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university.  Preference will be given to a student that will be a first generation college attendee and has a financial need.  Broome can only submit two applicants.  Come to Guidance for an application. Nina Neely Scholarship Essay Contest
The Reformed Universal Masonic Brotherhood and Order of the Eastern Star, Inc.  will award a first, second, and third place scholarship to winners of the Nina Neely Scholarship Essay Contest.  The essay contest is for 2020 graduating seniors pursuing higher education in the fall of 2020.  Come to Guidance for an application and details.  DEADLINE:  MARCH 12, 2020
The Croft Rescue Squad 18 Scholarship
The Croft Rescue Squad 18 Scholarship created this scholarship fund to give back to the community it served before closing in July 2010.  The recipient of this scholarship must be a graduating senior of Broome High School, Dorman High School, or Spartanburg High School pursuing any level of higher education.  The student must have lived one year or more in the communities of either Glendale, Croft, or Glenn Springs-Pauline Fire Districts.  Broome can only submit two applicants.  Applications are available in Guidance. Kiwanis Club of Spartanburg Scholarship
The Kiwanis Club of Spartanburg is offering a scholarship to a graduating senior from a Spartanburg County school.  The student must enroll in the fall at one of the following:  Wofford College, Converse College, USC Upstate, Spartanburg Methodist College, or Spartanburg Community College.  Only two applicants can be submitted from Broome.  COME TO GUIDANCE FOR AN APPLICATION. South Carolina State Fair Scholarship 
High school seniors planning to attend a public or private college or technical college in South Carolina are eligible to apply for the South Carolina State Fair Scholarship.  The South Carolina State Fair will award 50 seniors $1,500 per year for up to four years.  Apply online at DEADLINE: MARCH 15, 2020 
SCEAR (South Carolina Education Association – Retired) Scholarship
The SCEAR (South Carolina Education Association – Retired) Scholarship is a $1,000 renewable scholarship that is awarded annually to a SC graduating senior planning to pursue a career in education.  The student must be planning to attend an accredited four-year college/university or an accredited two-year college within the state of SC as a full-time student.  Applicants must need financial assistance.  Come to Guidance for an application and details. Spartanburg County Clemson Club
The Spartanburg County Clemson Club will award two $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors from Spartanburg County public high schools who will be enrolling as freshmen at Clemson University in the fall.  The scholarship must be used towards tuition, books, or other enrollment fees.  The Club will be awarding scholarships based on academic and leadership qualities demonstrated by the recipients.  ONLY STUDENTS THAT HAVE A FINANCIAL NEED SHOULD APPLY.  RETURN YOUR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION TO MRS. Light Up A Life Scholarship
The Auxiliary to Prisma Health has partnered with the Center for Scholarship Administration, Inc. (CSA), to administer the Light Up A Life Scholarship Program for graduating seniors pursuing a career in healthcare and who demonstrate a financial need.  Students must have achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 in both mathematics and science while in high school. Furman Scholars
Any JUNIOR interested in an education in liberal arts and sciences at Furman University in Greenville, SC should see Mr. Barnard or Mrs. Clary in Guidance to determine if you are eligible for the Furman Scholar Award.  You must have a 3.5 GPA or higher (on a 4.0 scale), as well as an SAT score of 1360, PSAT score of 1360 or an ACT score of 29.  Students must also have a significant involvement in extracurricular activities, community service, and demonstrate leadership potential.  Students selected for this award will be eligible for at least $20,000 per year, $80,000 over four years in scholarships upon acceptance to Furman University.  DEADLINE: MARCH 25, 2020
Suzannah Blackwell Memorial Scholarship
Current SC and NC High School Seniors who are current or former English Learners (ELs) and intend to continue education at an accredited U.S. university or community college in the 2020-2021 school year are eligible to apply for the Suzannah Blackwell Memorial Scholarship.  Apply at DEADLINE:  MARCH 31, 2020

Law Day Essay Contest
The Law Day Essay contest is open to all 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students.  The best essay writer for each grade will receive a $100 prize and the overall best essay writer will receive $500.  Applications are available in Guidance.  DEADLINE:  12:00 NOON ON FRIDAY, APRIL 3, 2020; THE DEADLINE IS DURING SPRING BREAK, SO YOUR APPLICATION SHOULD BE RETURNED TO YOUR TEACHER SUBMITTING YOUR ESSAY IN TIME FOR IT TO BE SUBMITTED PRIOR TO THAT DATE.  
Jack and Carolyn Linder Scholarship

The Kenneth Berger Lawyers Against Distracted Driving Scholarship
