Masks, COVID-19 guidelines change

D3 Family,

Over the past 24-48 hours, District Three has received the following mandates concerning appropriate COVID Prevention and Management:

1) Per the South Carolina Department of Education, CDC, and DHEC, face coverings/masks are required for all individuals, students and drivers, while riding school buses, effective August 30, 2021.  Extra masks will be available on each bus in the event that a student needs one.

2) Per DHEC, the criteria for identifying close contacts has also been updated. Now, both mask-wearing and physical distance are considered when determining whether a student or staff needs to quarantine.

Without masks, students less than 6 feet from an identified positive case must quarantine.
With masks, students less than 3 feet from an identified positive case must quarantine.

As a reminder, fully vaccinated people (and those verified to have been infected with
COVID-19 in the previous 90 days) do not need to quarantine unless they develop symptoms.

Per the South Carolina Department of Education’s revised guidelines, all students must wear masks while on buses. The exception to this rule is for students with severe medical conditions that prevent them from safely wearing a mask. Please provide medical documentation to your student’s school to update your student’s Individual Health Care Plan if this is the case for your student.
