District Three receives AVID grant, allowing schools to expand program
Spartanburg County School District Three has been awarded a grant for $183,649 to be used for our AVID program at the middle school level.
The AVID program stands for advancement via individual determination. It allows District Three to hire college students as tutors to help students with their studies and gives them a glimpse into what life would be like as a college student.
District Three’s Broome High School was the first high school in Spartanburg County to use this program this year.
This grant will allow the district to expand AVID to the middle school grades, with the goal to help more students graduate on time, improve GPAs and prepare students for college classes starting at a younger age.
