Broome JROTC Cadet Emily Buell earns full scholarship

Congratulations to Broome JROTC Cadet Emily Buell, who was 1 of 100 Air Force JROTC cadets chosen worldwide for the Air Force’s J100 Scholarship! In all, there were 513 nominations/applicants. Emily is the first cadet in Broome’s JROTC history to win this amazing scholarship!

She will attend the college or university of her choice next year and will be commissioned in the US Air Force as a 2Lt when she graduates. This scholarship is very competitive, and the selection process included physical fitness test, academic grades, SAT/ACT scores, an essay, and an extensive online interview by a 3-member board of active duty and retired service members. The J100 scholarship is an amazing opportunity and covers 4 years of tuition, room and board for 4 years, books and a monthly spending stipend!

Maj. Rod Camp surprised Emily with the announcement this week after the US Air Force Heritage Band performed at the District Three Auditorium. We are very proud of Emily and all of the hard work she has put in to earn this scholarship and we wish the best of luck in her journey to become an officer in the USAF!
