Board Meeting Recap

We had the opportunity to recognize several outstanding student and staff accomplishments last night at our District Three Board of Trustees meeting.

First, we recognized three students who were selected to represent Broome High School at Palmetto Boys State this summer!

Each year, rising seniors across the state are nominated by their high school teachers and counselors to be delegates or “citizens” at Boys State. Students nominated are then interviewed and selected to attend. The program is widely considered to be as much about leadership training as it is an opportunity to learn about and participate in government and politics.

This year, our representatives are:

Noah Young (11th Grade)

Stephen “Thad” Lyda (11th Grade)

Sergio Witrago Aguilera (11th Grade)

Palmetto Boys State 2025

Next, we recognized two students selected to represent Broome High School at Palmetto Girls State this summer!

Palmetto Girls State is a one-week leadership and citizenship training program, established to educate outstanding high school students about state and local government and citizenship. Students attending Palmetto Girls State must be nominated and selected to attend. They experience governmental procedure by simulating political campaigns, elections, and the political process. They also learn about the principles of citizenship and public service from guest speakers, expert panels, and staff members.

This year, our representatives are:

Jessika Bowers (11th Grade)

Sarah Hartell (11th Grade)

Palmetto Girls State 2025

Each year, District Three holds a recruitment fair. This year, three students at Cowpens Elementary were featured on a billboard to help us advertise the fair.

They are:

Phoenix Greene

Brayden Corry-Brooks

Sophiah Bailey

These students were recognized and gifted a certificate and a personal billboard as a token of appreciation!
