Broome High School is pleased to announce that Connor Barnard has been named the school’s next Head Boys’ Basketball Coach.
Coach Barnard returns to Broome after spending the past six years as part of the basketball program at Spartanburg High School. A Broome alumnus, Barnard said the opportunity to return to his alma mater is especially meaningful.
"It is an honor to return to Broome High School exactly 12 years later as the new Head Varsity Basketball Coach," said Barnard. "This is a dream of mine, and I am blessed to be back home! I truly have the best support system and believe we are going to build a strong, unified program. The athletes' overall development is my priority, and I’m here to help build them on and off the court."
Mr. Josh Fowler, Principal of Broome High School, said Barnard’s passion and commitment to student-athletes made him a natural fit for the position.
"It's always great to welcome a Centurion back to BHS and the District 3 family," said Fowler. "We are excited to have Coach Barnard take the reins of our boys' basketball program. His passion for the game of basketball and focus on growth and development of student-athletes will be invaluable to continuing the tradition of excellence in our basketball program."
Incoming Athletic Director David Paschal also expressed excitement about the future of the program under Barnard’s leadership.
“Coach Barnard’s passion and excitement for Broome is seen as soon as you start talking to him," said Paschal. "His commitment to developing young men and his vision for building a disciplined, competitive culture made him the right leader for our program. We are excited for the future of Centurion Basketball under his leadership and look forward to watching our student-athletes grow both on and off the court.”
Coach Barnard will officially begin his role leading the Centurion boys’ basketball program this summer.
