Coach Anderson Named Head Boys' Track and Field Coach

Broome High School is pleased to announce that Gavin Anderson has been named the school’s next head boys’ track & field coach.

A Broome alumnus and former state champion for the Centurions, Coach Anderson brings a deep passion for the school, community, and tradition of excellence that defines Broome Track & Field. Anderson has spent more than 15 years coaching Broome throwers and has helped develop nine individual state champions in discus, shot put, and javelin, along with numerous region champions, state qualifiers, and top finishers. His athletes have continued the strong tradition of competing at the collegiate level. In addition, Anderson has coached youth track and field for several years and was the first to offer shot put opportunities in Spartanburg County youth track programs.

“As a Broome High School alumnus, and direct product of everything that makes District 3 so special, I have a passion and purpose to serve the students and athletes of the community that raised me,” said Anderson. “Broome Track and Field has a tradition like none other. Having been a part of that tradition and witnessing what it has done for so many over the years, I am driven to uphold and enhance that standard of excellence. I could not be more excited and blessed to have the opportunity to lead those that are our future.”

Mr. Josh Fowler, Principal of Broome High School, expressed excitement about Anderson leading the Centurion track program.

“We are very excited to have Coach Anderson lead our boys’ track team and are looking forward to his continued work with the tradition of excellence for our track program,” said Fowler.

Incoming Athletic Director David Paschal also shared his enthusiasm for the hire.

“Coach Anderson’s passion for Broome Track & Field and the relationships he has built within this program over the years stood out immediately,” said Paschal. “His commitment to developing student-athletes, maintaining a culture of excellence, and continuing the proud tradition of Centurion Track & Field made him the right person to lead this program. We are excited for the future and look forward to watching our student-athletes continue to grow and compete at a high level under his leadership.”

Coach Anderson will officially begin his role leading the Centurion boys’ track and field program this summer.
