Palmetto Girls State is a one-week leadership and citizenship training program designed to educate outstanding high school students about state and local government.
Participants experience governmental procedure by simulating political campaigns, elections, and the political process. They also learn about the principles of citizenship and public service from guest speakers, expert panels, and staff members.

Daniel Morgan Technology Center's Annual Military & First Responders Appreciation Day was a great success! We're grateful to the members of the military, law enforcement, and first responder community who took the time to connect with our students and share their experiences.
Students had the opportunity to explore careers in public service, gaining insight into both military and law enforcement pathways while getting a first-hand look at various equipment.

Broome High School hosted its AVID Recognition Ceremony last night! Underclassmen AVID students received a certificate acknowledging completion of the AVID elective at their grade level, and seniors were awarded their stoles for graduation.

Broome High School Beta Club dedicated its spring project to the nonprofit organization Hope For Our Elderly. This organization helps provide essential items such as food, hygiene products, over-the-counter medication, and cleaning supplies to elderly individuals in Spartanburg, Cherokee and Union counties.
Broome Beta Club collected nonperishable food and snacks; more than 27 bottles of shampoo and conditioner; 30 boxes of toothpaste; more than 25 toothbrushes; 14 bottles of dish soap; and more than 30 packs of juice and protein shakes. Broome Beta Club also collected soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and disposable underwear.

Cannons Elementary School hosted an ArtsNOW Demonstration of Learning Day!
Educators from around the county and state had the opportunity to see arts-integrated lessons firsthand!
Students even had the chance to perform their new school theme song from The Sound of Learning.
Cannons Elementary is in its third year as an ArtsNOW partner and has been an Arts in Basic Curriculum School since 2011. Great job, Champions!

The Broome High School Winterguard did an incredible job during their showcase last night at Spartanburg High School! They travel to Winthrop University tomorrow where they will compete for the 2026 Winterguard Championship. Let's go, Centurions!

Yesterday, Cannons Elementary School Principal Mrs. Phillips officially accepted the 2025-26 Palmetto's Finest Finalist Award on behalf of Cannons Elementary, accompanied by Assistant Principal Mrs. Kyle and D3 Superintendent Dr. Fowler.
This outstanding recognition is a credit to the hard work of our Cannons Elementary students, staff, and administrators!

The Clifdale Middle Concert Band earned an Excellent rating at the SCBDA Concert Performance Assessment in Fort Mill! The band also received a Superior rating in Sight-Reading. Congratulations to all students and Clifdale Middle Band Director Mrs. Johnston!

It is with mixed emotions D3 shares that Coach McManus, Head Boys Basketball Coach and Athletic Director at Broome High School, will be the new Athletic Director at Myrtle Beach High School in Horry County effective July 1, 2026. While we certainly understand and support his decision to be closer to family, his presence in our athletic programs, school, and community will be greatly missed.
Coach McManus has made a lasting impact on our student-athletes through his dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence.
During his tenure at Broome High School from 1999-2010, Coach McManus helped lead the boys basketball team to several championships, including three Regional Championships (2004, 2005, 2006), two Upper State Championships (2005, 2006), and a State Championship (2005).
Coach McManus returned to Broome High School as Athletic Director and Head Boys Basketball Coach in 2023. By February 2025, he helped lead the Centurions to another Regional Championship. In September 2025, McManus was named Region 3 AAA Athletic Director of the Year.
We wish Coach McManus nothing but the best in this next chapter and know he will continue to make a difference in the lives of students, athletes, coaches, and the school community in Myrtle Beach.
